Kia Introduces the Telluride, Its Biggest SUV Yet

The 2020 model year marked the arrival of yet another vehicle in the Kia lineup: The Kia Telluride. This hefty-looking crossover is not only the South Korean automaker's largest SUV, but also one of the largest new vehicles on the market today. The Telluride is already winning high marks for its multiple attributes, including robust engine power, sturdy build, comfortable ride, and loads of safety and tech features. We invite you to learn more about the Telluride and visit Visalia Kia to take one for a spin; you will find us less than 45-minutes south of Porterville in Visalia, CA.

The 2020 Kia Telluride comes available in four trims: the LX, the S, the EX, and the SX.

Performance

Under the hood of the Kia Telluride is a huge, 3.8-liter V6 that generates 291-horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. With the V6 attached to an eight-speed automatic transmission, and the standard front-wheel-drive, the Telluride provides a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 lbs. Optional is an all-wheel-drive system, which is ideal for conquering slippery surfaces in Tulare, CA.

Comfort and Convenience

The Kia Telluride comes standard with features like the Smart Key System with push-button engine start, a 3.5-inch TFT instrumentation display, Bluetooth® hands-free phone calling, Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay® smartphone integration, a six-speaker stereo system with AM/FM radio, five USB ports and an audio jack, UVO in-car connectivity, and an eight-inch touchscreen.

At the EX trim level, the crossover is upgraded with features such as dual-zone automatic climate control and Quiet Mode technology to focus the sound system on just the first row when second- and third-row passengers are asleep. Other features include an auto-dimming rearview mirror, wireless phone charging ability, a PA system to amplify the driver's voice throughout the cabin, navigation capability, an additional USB port to bring the grand total to six, and a 10.25-inch touchscreen display that replaces the smaller 8-inch.

Exclusive to the SX are a seven-inch LCD digital instrument cluster display (in place of the 3.5-inch), a garage-door opener, and a ten-speaker Harman Kardon® stereo system.

Interior

The Kia Telluride provides three leatherette-trimmed rows. If you go with the LX or EX, the second row consists of a bench-style seat to maximize occupancy at eight people. The S and SX trims have a pair of captain's seats in the second row instead to reduce maximum occupancy to seven people. However, the S and SX have second- and third-row seats that can be foldable to expand cargo volume when necessary.

A leather-wrapped steering wheel comes standard, along with front-seat heating and ten-way power adjustability with two-way power lumbar support on the driver's seat. The EX welcomes leather seat trim, eight-way power adjustability on the front passenger seat, and front-seat ventilation. Only the SX has driver-seat memory settings and 12-way power adjustability.

Safety

Restraint and cushioning on the Kia Telluride are provided by a driver's knee airbag, two front impact airbags, two side impact airbags, and side curtain airbags that flank all three rows of seats. The crossover also comes standard with a number of Kia Drive Wise™ driver-assist features, which keep you alerted and can control certain vehicle functions to prevent accidents. Standard Kia Drive Wise™ features include:

  • Forward Collision Avoidance with Pedestrian Detection (FCA- Ped)
  • Forward Collision Warning (FCW)
  • Blind-Spot Collision Avoidance Assist Rear (BCA-R)
  • Lane Keeping Assist (LKA)
  • Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
  • Lane Following Assist (LFA)
  • Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA)
  • Driver Attention Warning
  • Smart Cruise Control (SCC) with Stop and Go

There's also the Rear Occupant Alert (ROA) to ensure that no one is left behind and safe exit assist to prevent exiting passengers from getting hit by other vehicles in Hanford, CA. Other standard safety features on the Telluride include a rearview camera, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, Electronic Stability Control, Traction Control, Hill Start Assist Control (HAC), and LED daytime running lights.

Parking Distance Warning- Reverse (PDW-R) is a feature introduced on the EX trim to help make hard-to-reach spots in Clovis easy and convenient. A Blind-Spot View Monitor (BVM), Surround View Monitor (replacing the rearview camera), and High Beam Assist (HBA) are exclusive to the SX trim.
